Camp Cornhusker
Camp Cornhusker has many program areas that provide advancement, challenge and fun for your Scouts. Each area is staffed with BSA certified and trained staff members ready to help your Scouts get the most out of their camp experience.
- Outdoor Skills -
The Outdoor Skills Area offers an exciting program which teaches a varied set of skills from Scoutcraft to Wilderness Survival and illustrates their usage in everyday life.
- Aquatics -
The Aquatics Staff is dedicated to instructing safe aquatic skills while allowing the Scouts to have a great time while doing so. From swimming at the pool to canoeing on the lake, the Aquatics Staff will offer loads of fun for all Scouts and Scouters.
- Ecology/Conservation -
Since the earliest days of Scouting, nature and conservation activities have held an important place in the Scouting movement. From the earth's environment to the far reaches of space, the Ecology/Conservation Area has it all.
- Shooting Sports -
The rifle, bow and arrow, and shotgun are symbols of the American pioneer. In early America, they were the survival tools. The Shooting Sports Area offers you the opportunity to develop the skills and safety required to create a hobby of lifelong interest.
- Project COPE -
Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE) is an opportunity for Scouts who are 13 years and older to test their skills on an obstacle type course designed to build confidence and team work. From team building initiative games to the thrill of the zip line, Project COPE will challenge your older scouts and help keep them involved.
New to Camp Cornhusker
- Lake Trampoline -
The lake will have a new centerpiece for the 2011 camping season, and unlike the one on your mother’s dining room table, you can climb on top of this one! We’re excited to announce that a new water trampoline (or similar attraction) is being added to the lake at Camp Cornhusker as an activity for Scouts to participate in during their free time in the afternoons. This is sure to be a huge hit on hot summer days in June.
- Frisbee Golf -
A Frisbee golf course is being designed for Camp Cornhusker, and will be completed in time for the 2011 camping season. This will serve as another activity for Scouts and patrols to participate in during their free time in the afternoons and evenings. This activity is suitable for beginners and expert frolfers.
- Mountain Man Program -
Greenhorns who participated in the Mountain Man program in 2010 will have the opportunity to advance a level to Trapper by completing two hours of service to the camp. First year scouts can begin their Mountain Man trail as a Greenhorn just like their fellow Scouts did.
- More Patrol Activities -
Mountainboarding, Geocaching, Hiking Trails, Compass Courses, the Flying Squirrel, and other recent additions are sure to keep Scouts of all ages busy all week long!
Plus Lots more...
Look for the Unit Leader’s Guide coming in early spring!
